Fountain House Gallery Will Present Works by Emerging Artists at Superfine Art Fair

September 15 – 18, 2022, at The Market Line at Essex Crossing

Booth 4 and Booth 115

NEW YORK CITY – Fountain House Gallery, representing artists living with mental illness, announces its inaugural participation in Superfine, the premier art fair for independent and emerging artists. The fair will be held at The Market Line at Essex Crossing, located at 202 Broome Street in Manhattan. Fountain House Gallery works will be on view at Booth 4 and Booth 115. Hours: Thursday, September 15, 6pm-10pm (Preview); Friday, September 16, 4pm-9pm; Saturday, September 17, 12pm-9pm; and Sunday, September 18, 12pm-8pm.

We’re delighted to bring our artists’ work to the Superfine audience for the first time,” said Rachel Weisman, Director of Fountain House Gallery. “Pieces by more than 20 Gallery artists working in a variety of mediums will be presented at the fair, along with a special installation by fiber artist Alyson Vega: a reimagined version of her large-scale The Urban Cocoon, which was unveiled last June at Fountain House Gallery’s annual auction and benefit event. Inspired by the time spent ‘cocooning’ in lockdown during the pandemic, The Urban Cocoon is a magical environment of furnishings made from repurposed materials. The hundreds of fiber and wool cocoons created by Vega to adorn the installation remind us that as the butterfly emerges from its chrysalis, we too can transform ourselves after a crisis and arrive at a finer expression of our humanity.”

The programs of Fountain House Gallery are funded, in part, by generous support from the Renate, Hans and Maria Hofmann Trust, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, the David Rockefeller Fund, and the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund.
