Jenny Chan

Jenny was born in New York City's Chinatown and knew by the age of five that she wanted to be an artist. She began utilizing art as a tool for recovery when she was sad or ill and believes that art has the power to heal both mind and body. She received a BA in writing and art from the NYU Gallatin School. Jenny’s work is executed in vibrant color and clean lines in colored pencil and magic marker. She draws inspiration from family and friends, with an emphasis on themes of community. While Jenny is known for her ongoing series depicting stylishly-attired sisters, she also creates vivid and magical images of dolls, princesses, ballerinas, and flowers. She has recently pursued her passion for photography with a focus on city landscapes. Jenny's work has appeared in numerous group shows and in her first solo exhibition, at Brooklyn's Baltic Street Community Resource and Wellness Center.
